Art Students Supported in Organizing a Concert

Enhancing and refining stage performance skills for students at the Faculty of Arts, particularly piano students, may seem simple but actually covers the entire process of diligent teaching and learning, combined with careful practice, requiring close interaction between teachers and students, and between the school and the students.

Acquiring knowledge, skills, and forming a personal performance style for each individual or group of students studying the arts major is always the focus of teaching work. In this process, the role of the teacher is not limited to conveying the content of a piece, but also motivating and supporting students to stage the piece they have learned. This is not only an element that stimulates the desire to learn, practice, and engage with the work but is also considered a necessary catalyst to strengthen the teacher-student bond.
It is not hard to conclude that performing a work with specific dialogues or characters might be easier than performing an instrumental piece. As performers, students must not only convey the content of the story in the music through sound, but that sound must also carry their own creativity. This task requires not only instructors with solid professional knowledge but also those who can ignite passion in their students. To complete a performance, the person delivering the content needs substantial support from various elements, such as sound, lighting, musical instruments, arranging, costume design, character makeup, and promotional activities, etc. The program Mystic Melodies, executed primarily by the art students of Van Hien University, seems to encapsulate the full scope of the tasks involved.
Master Mạch Thị Mỹ Thanh, the inspiration behind the Mystic Melodies program and a piano lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, Van Hien University, further shared that the goal of the show was to teach students to present their works as thoroughly as possible, helping them realize the results of their training and bringing them joy in learning. The success of the show was not only about the details of each individual’s performance but also reflected the collective effort of the entire team.
The selected works in the Mystic Melodies program mainly include popular pieces from famous movies. The music genres range from foreign ballads, lyrical music, to classical music. The performances feature not only solo piano but also duet performances with other instruments like the violin, and some pieces are even combined with ballet dance performances. All of this contributes to bringing each piece to life, providing practical encouragement for piano students in particular and art students in general.
Master Mạch Thị Mỹ Thanh believes that supporting students in organizing a music show helps them connect more closely with the audience, allowing them to listen to feedback or praise from the audience, which is an effective method for enhancing students' professional skills and a tangible source of joy in their learning.
Accompanying the program is the GRAND PIANO BECHSTEIN A190, a marvelous creation of world-class piano craftsmanship. Produced by the renowned German brand C. Bechstein, this piano not only delivers warm, captivating sounds but also reflects exquisite details in its design.
